The Călata Regional Museum in Săvădisla

Săvădisla has a Călata (Kalotaszeg) Regional Museum. The museum has its origins in the village museum collection, which was established in 1967 and was collected by the founder, Imre Boldizsár Zeyk, a local teacher, with the help of his students, largely from Săvădisla. The collection was later enriched by purchases, and today it consists of about 400 items. The Kalotaszeg Regional Museum of Săvădisla was established in 2002 as a non-profit association. The building, located in the immediate vicinity of the village church and the former Széchen castle, bears the stylistic features of the houses constructed after the village was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1871. From the porch, the entrance from the street leads into the former atrium, where an exhibition of local history and domestic artefacts is housed. The room up the street is a clean room in Săvădisla, largely furnished with furniture collected from the village. In the third room of the house, there is a collection of painted furniture from Cifrakalotaszeg and an exhibition of costumes from several villages in the region. The building is being restored and the museum is presently closed to the public.
